URJ congregations may now offer the RPB Plan to more employees.

For more than 75 years, RPB has been helping strengthen the Reform Movement by providing a retirement plan to rabbis and other professional staff. Now by offering broader access, we can truly fulfill our mission of serving more of those who work tirelessly to care for our communities.

Any employee of a URJ-affiliated congregation can now join RPB if they:

  • Are at least 18 years of age.

  • Work at least 18 hours per week at a URJ congregation. This means your employees in administrative, finance, custodial, security, or other positions can now participate in RPB’s retirement plan.

  • And also, are a member of one of the following Reform Movement professional organizations (CCAR, NATA, ARJE, ECE-RJ, PEP-RJ, ATID), only if the organization requires membership based on their job.

NOTE: Employees eligible for the American Conference of Cantors retirement plan are not eligible for the RPB plan.

The expanded eligibility policy also enables congregations of all sizes to:

  • Provide a high-quality retirement plan to help attract and retain top talent.

  • Reduce the burden and cost of providing an alternative plan to employees who previously didn’t qualify for the RPB plan.

  • Meet their state-mandated retirement plan requirements, as applicable.
