Long Term Disability (LTD) Premium Rate Increase
Beginning December 1, 2021, MetLife's Long Term Disability insurance (LTD) rates are increasing by 15 percent.
Why are the rates increasing?
This is RPB's first rate increase since 2012 when we contracted with MetLife to offer LTD insurance benefits to Reform Movement employees. This premium increase is consistent across the disability insurance industry, which has seen increased LTD claims over the past three years.
When is the increase effective?
The rate increase is effective as of December 1, 2021, when the upcoming LTD annual open enrollment period begins. The new rates apply to any employees who are renewing their LTD coverage or enrolling for the first time. The rate increase does not apply to coverage already paid through the end of the year.
Benefits of MetLife's LTD Policy through RPB
In addition to group rates, our LTD policy has a unique feature for eligible retirement plan participants called Contribution Insurance. Contribution insurance will continue employer retirement contributions—up to 15% of an employee's compensation—if an employee is unable to work due to a disability.
